CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Lady Lions dropped their first game of the season in the ACC-Big Ten challenge, falling here to Miami (Fla.), 69-65 Thursday night.

Penn State got itself in a big hole once again by committing 20 turnovers in the first half, but it only trailed 36-29 despite the lackluster first half performance. Forward Nikki Greene and Alex Bentley once again found themselves in foul trouble and played sparingly in the first 20 minutes.

The Lady Lions didn’t take the lead for the first time until there was 8:47 to play in the game, when they went up 51-49 and had a chance to go up by five several minutes later but turned the ball over. Penn State was led by Maggie Lucas with 20 points, and Bentley finished with 14.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host Fairleigh Dickinson in a 2 p.m. start at the Bryce Jordan Center.
