Good times continue to come for the Penn State women’s basketball program, as sophomore guard Maggie Lucas picked up Big Ten Player of the Week honors, Penn State announced Tuesday.

Lucas scored 28 points on 10-for-18 shooting (5-for-7 from 3) in a 74-63 victory at No. 17 Purdue last Thursday. She followed up with her first career double-double in Monday’s victory against No. 9 Ohio State, which clinched the program’s first conference regular season championship since 2003-04 and secured the top seed and a first-round bye in next month’s Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis.

It is the first conference player of the week award for Lucas, who is fourth in the Big Ten with 19.1 points per game. Former guard Tyra Grant last took home the honors on Jan. 27, 2009.

The No. 12 Lady Lions (22-5, 12-3 Big Ten) have won a season high six-straight games. They end their regular season at 2 Sunday afternoon against Minnesota in the Bryce Jordan Center in the annual Pink Zone game.
