No. 1 Penn State women’s volleyball continued its winning ways on Wednesday night, defeating Indiana in straight sets at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions cruised 25-21, 25-16, 25-16.

Senior Haleigh Washington led the way with 10 kills in an efficient all-around game. With the win, the Nittany Lions extended their winning streak to 16 straight matches in Big Ten play. Penn State is now 26-1 on the season.

How It Happened

Indiana was able to keep pace with an experienced Penn State squad at the start. Going up against a team that starts five seniors, the Hoosiers were neck-and-neck with the Nittany Lions until the end of the first set. Penn State pulled away at the end though thanks to a beautiful kill off the hand of Simone Lee that gave the Lions a 25-21 win in the first set.

The second set had the Nittany Lions’ superior experience on full display. Penn State flew through the set and eventually took it 25-16. The blue and white finished things off thanks to Washington’s solid showing down the stretch. She had four kills in the third, including the final kill that won it for Penn State.
