A 20-year-old reported missing this week in a Philadelphia waterway had been a Penn State student, university spokeswoman Lisa Powers confirmed today.

The man, Saulis Kvaraciejus, was riding a blow-up pool float in Pennypack Creek when he fell into a strong current late Tuesday, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

A Police Marine Unit is expected to continue searching for his body today, according to the Daily News article.

Powers said Kvaraciejus had been enrolled as a third-semester Penn State student at the Abington campus. ‘He was registered last spring, but is not registered for this fall,’ she wrote in an e-mail message.

Kvaraciejus was from the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia, the Daily News reported.
