Timothy Piazza was rushing the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Penn State nearly three years ago when an alcohol-related hazing incident cost the 19-year-old sophomore his life.
Since his death, his parents have been determined to prevent such a case from happening again.
In January, the Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research and Reform opened at Penn State with the goal of studying and reforming Greek life at universities around the country.
‘What should they be doing to make a better man or a better woman and create better brotherhood or sisterhood? Those are the type of things we’re looking forward to see coming out of the center,’ Timothy’s father, Jim Piazza, said.
Centre County Report’s Samantha Renck spoke with Jim and Evelyn Piazza about their mission and hope to see the effort spark change around the nation.
