A College Township man is facing charges for allegedly recording and distributing sexually explicit images of a woman without her consent.
Steve Guthoff, 64, was preliminarily arraigned on June 11 on misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy and unlawful dissemination of intimate images.
Guthoff, a longtime guidance counselor in the State College Area School District who retired in 2022 and former football coach at multiple high schools, was previously charged with voyeurism in South Carolina in August 2024 and pleaded guilty in November 2025.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the woman told a State College police detective in November 2024 that Guthoff had recorded and distributed the photos and videos of her without her permission in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
She found a spy camera, numerous discs, thumb drives and SD cards hidden in their South Carolina residence, police wrote.
Among the electronic storage devices, the woman found sexually explicit videos and photos of her and Guthoff, according to the affidavit. She also discovered videos Guthoff recorded of himself sharing the images of her with other men online and masturbating while they viewed them, police wrote.
State College police received the contents of the storage devices from the Horry County (South Carolina) Police Department and identified 43 sexually explicit images and videos taken by Guthoff of the woman inside their College Township residence, according to the affidavit. Investigators also found videos of Guthoff disseminating the images taken in Centre County on Zoom and Skype while masturbating with other men, police wrote.
District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker set unsecured bail at $5,000. Guthoff waived a preliminary hearing on June 17 and is next scheduled for formal arraignment on July 15.
