A Centre County man was arrested for homicide after a woman was found dead on Saturday inside a Rush Township home.
Alan K. Reed, 74, of Rush Township, is charged with criminal homicide and a felony count of strangulation in the death of Dawn Reed, 57.
State police at Rockview were dispatched at 9 a.m. Saturday to a home on the 700 block of North Front Street for a welfare check and found Dawn Reed deceased, according to a public information release on Sunday.
Alan Reed was arrested after investigation and arraigned on Sunday morning by District Judge Don Hahn, who denied bail. He is detained at the Centre County Correctional Facility, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 5.
A criminal complaint detailing the case was not yet available on Sunday.
An autopsy was performed on Dawn Reed and the cause of death is pending toxicology results and further investigation, according to Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers
