State police at Rockview on Thursday arrested a Penns Valley man on charges that he repeatedly raped a child over a five-year period.
Vladimir Y. Slavskiy, 35, of Spring Mills, is facing 20 counts of rape of a child, one count of rape by forcible compulsion and two counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child.
Police began investigating in January 2023 after a witness reported that Slavskiy had been sexually abusing the girl since 2017, when she was 7 or 8 years old, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The abuse continued through 2022 and “numerous instances” of sexual assault and rape occurred at locations in Spring Mills, Pleasant Gap and Erie, police wrote. The girl was under the age of 13 during most of the abuse, according to the affidavit.
Slavskiy was denied bail on Thursday afternoon by District Judge Gregory Koehle and is detained at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 12.
