A 38-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly broke into and ransacked an ice cream shop at a Centre County creamery.

The owner of The Dairy Barn and Nittany Valley Creamery, 5561 Jacksonville Road in Marion Township, arrived at the business at 4:30 a.m. to find a man later identified as Christopher M. Galick inside the shop, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by state police at Rockview.

When the owner asked Galick what he was doing there, Galick replied that he was cleaning because he worked there, police wrote. The owner then called police, who arrived to see Galick exiting the shop.

After being stopped by a state trooper, Galick allegedly claimed he owned the business and that the actual owner was “a crazy person.”

Police found that Galick has consumed beverages and food, emptied the cash registers and hid more than $6,600 in a freezer, according to the affidavit. He allegedly cleared out entire cabinets of cups and other items, made milkshakes and put the products into bags that he placed in a garbage can at the curb.

Galick has no fixed address and “was observed to have possible mental health issues,” police wrote.

He was charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal trespass and theft. He was arraigned on Friday morning by District Judge Casey McClain, who set bail at $100,000.

Galick is confined at the Centre County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27.
