Police arrested a State College man on Sunday after he allegedly threatened to shoot a staff member at a downtown bar.

Gerald G. Goff, 70, began insulting and got in the face of an employee who made his drink and asked for his name at about 7 p.m. at Bill Pickle’s Taproom, 106 S. Allen St., according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by State College police.

A second employee asked Goff to leave and tried to escort him out of the bar, but he refused, police wrote. After that employee called police, Goff allegedly told him he would “put a bullet in [his] head.” A customer interviewed by police said she also heard Goff make the statement.

Goff was standing on the sidewalk and had a strong odor of alcohol when police arrived, according to the complaint.

An officer removed from the fanny pack Goff was wearing a Glock 26 9mm pistol, which had a fully loaded magazine and a round in the chamber, police wrote.

Goff is charged with one felony count of terroristic threat, one misdemeanor count of defiant trespass and summary counts of disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

He was arraigned by District Judge Casey McClain, who set unsecured bail at $5,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
