Ferguson Township police believe that the dead woman found along Plainfield Road in Pine Grove Mills was dumped out of a vehicle and abandoned there.
An autopsy performed on Monday night didn’t immediately reveal a cause of death, according to the most recent update from the police department. A toxicology test on the dead woman will take several weeks to complete.
‘It appears the woman was transported by vehicle to the site where she was found and then abandoned there,’ police said. ‘There are no indications that the woman walked on her own to the place where she was found.’
The autopsy concluded that the time of death was likely between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3:20 a.m. on Sunday. Police have yet to identify the woman, but they released photos of tattoos on the body yesterday, which can be seen here.
‘There are promising leads as to her identity,’ police added. ‘When and if any of the leads result in her identification, police will work with the Coroners’ Office to locate and notify her family. Her name will not be released publicly until those notifications are complete.’
The police department has no reason to believe this woman’s death is linked to recent unsolved murder of 60-year-old Ferguson Township resident Jean Tuggy, who was found dead in her home by means of a gunshot to the head a few weeks ago. A $5,000 reward is available for information leading to an arrest in that case.
