A 21-year-old Barnesville woman will be cited after a two-car collision Monday night that briefly closed part of North Atherton Street, State College police said.
It happened at 8:08 p.m. at the Hillcrest Avenue-Atherton Street intersection, according to a police report. Police said a southbound Mazda 626 driven by Madison R. Miller, of Barnesville, made a left turn into the path of an oncoming Volkswagen.
Both the Mazda and the Volkswagen, driven by Justin R. Beck, 26, of State College, sustained severe, disabling damage, police said. Airbags in both vehicles deployed. Northbound traffic on Atherton Street was rerouted in that area for 30 to 60 minutes, according to the crash report.
Miller declined to be taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, but Beck was taken there for review of minor injuries, police said.
They said Miller will be cited for turning into the path of traffic. Miller told police she did not see the Volkswagen approaching, the crash report shows.
