Police: Penn State Students Assaulted in State College; Suspects Sought

Two Penn State students — both 22-year-old men — were assaulted about 1:20 a.m. Saturday on Highland Avenue, State College police reported.

In a news release, police said it happened on the 200 block. A group of possibly 10 men attacked the victims, according to the release. It says one victim was punched in the face, fell to the ground, then was kicked in the face and the head.

The other victim ‘tried to run away, but was chased by several males who caught up with him near South Pugh Street, and knocked him to the ground,’ the release reads. ‘The attackers fled when told that the police were being called.’

Police said the first victim was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment for facial fractures. The second victim, they said, suffered minor injuries that required no medical attention.

Officials said the suspects were described as college-age white men wearing formal clothes. Police are urging anyone with information about the assaults to call them at (814) 234-7150.
