State College police today have released photos of a ‘person of interest’ as they investigate an attempted arson.

The attempt was reported Thursday at 242 S. Fraser St., where a mixed-use building houses a U.S. Marines recruitment office and private apartments. An accelerant may have been used, police said.

Images released by police are posted to the right of this text. Police are encouraging anyone who can identify this man — the ‘person of interest’ — to call them at (814) 234-7150 or Centre County CRIMESTOPPERS at (877) 992-7463.

Anonymous tips may be submitted through the borough police website. Police said CRIMESTOPPERS is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Local authorities are probing a number of suspicious fires that date as far back as December — including recent blazes that damaged two State College police vehicles. Last week, police sought and found two other individuals dubbed ‘persons of interest.’

Police Lt. Chris Fishel has said there’s a ‘strong possibility’ that all the incidents are related.
