A Stroudsburg teenager is facing a DUI charge after a Sunday-morning wreck along South Atherton Street, State College police said Monday.
It happened about 5:15 a.m. at 827 S. Atherton St., according to a police report. Alyssa Marshall, 19, had been driving north on Atherton when the vehicle hit some black ice and went off the roadway, the report shows.
The car — a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis — struck a tree and a Walk’s Towing sign as it came to rest outside the automotive business, police said. Marshall had borrowed the car from a friend, according to the report.
Marshall recorded a blood-alcohol-content level of 0.11, police said. The threshold for DUI in Pennsylvania is 0.08.
No injuries were reported. The Mercury was badly damaged, though, according to the police report.
Among other incidents State College police reported Monday:
- A borough man reported he found a naked man in his bedroom early Saturday morning. That happened at 420 E. Prospect Ave., the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity house, according to a police report. The resident said he did not know the unclothed, apparently unannounced visitor. The incident was reported to police about 4:40 p.m. Saturday. Additional details were not immediately available Monday.
- A man reported he was assaulted shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday on Bellaire Avenue. Unidentified males had insulted him, he reported. When he answered the insults with an expletive, he told police, the men punched and kicked him. He was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of a bump on the head.
- A laptop computer and an iPod were reported stolen from an apartment at 611 E. Beaver Ave. Police said the items were taken during Saturday’s Penn State football game.
- A purse was reported stolen Sunday afternoon on the 300 block of West College Avenue. It was taken after someone had set it down on a wall there, police said. The value of the loss is estimated at $225.
