A Penn State student has confessed to shooting three passers-by with a BB gun early Saturday in downtown State College, borough police said Monday.

The BB-gun incident happened about 2 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of East College Avenue, police Lt. Keith Robb said. He said the student fired BBs at the passers-by from his apartment.

The accused student told police that ‘he was just bored’ and sober at the time, Robb said.

Two of the victims called police immediately; they suffered only minor injuries, according to a police report.

The third victim showed up to Mount Nittany Medical Center with a BB deeply lodged in his hand, police said.

According to the police report, surgery was required to extract that BB.

Robb said all three of the victims are men. He said police obtained and executed a search warrant in connection with the case.

Charges in the matter are pending, so the name of the accused was not immediately released Monday. Police did not immediately release the exact address of his residence, either.

StateCollege.com will post more details as they become available.
