State College police have charged two people in unrelated incidents for allegedly stealing from a nursing home and a local church.

Police charged Christine Knouse-Shuster, 34, of Lewistown after she allegedly stole a total of $161 from tenants at the Hearthside nursing home in the 400 block of Waupelani Drive.

Police say the thefts occurred between July 29 and Sept. 19. Police say Hearthside terminated Knouse-Shuster prior to charges being filed.

Knouse-Shuster faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property.

Police also charged Stephen Shepard, 36, who authorities say is homeless, for allegedly stealing a rosary Thursday from Our Lady of the Victory Church in the 800 block of Westerly Parkway.

Police also cited Shepard earlier in the week for allegedly harassing a female walking down the sidewalk on East Beaver Avenue and allegedly stealing cigarettes from the Minit Mart in the 100 block of North Atherton Street.
