Update: 10:30 a.m. AccuWeather says the Tornado Watch posted earlier Monday morning has now been cancelled. According to AccuWeather the rain should be ending by 2 p.m. and we may even see some sunshine later in the day.
Update: At 9:18 a.m. the National Weather Service cancelled the Severe Thunderstorm Warning posted earlier. The Tornado Watch remains in effect.
A cold front sweeping across the region is bringing us some potentially dangerous weather.
At 9:05 a.m. the National Weather Service posted a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for State College and surrounding areas. The warning will remain in effect until 9:30 a.m.
A line of storms that’s moving across our area is capable of producing heavy rain, lightning and winds in excess of 60 mph.
The NWS has also posted a Tornado Watch for most of central Pennsylvania.
A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. You should keep watch on weather conditions and be prepared to seek shelter if conditions worsen.
The Tornado Watch will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Monday.
