It appears that three former Penn State administrators charged in connection with an alleged cover-up of the Jerry Sandusky scandal will all be tried together.
In court documents made public Friday, the Attorney General’s office says it plans to try Graham Spanier, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz at the same time.
Spanier is the former president of Penn State. Curley is the university’s former athletic director. Schultz is the now retired senior vice president for finance and business at the university.
All three men are charged with perjury, failure to report, endangering the welfare of children, criminal conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
All of the defendants have strongly proclaimed their innocence.
It’s not uncommon for prosecutors to hold a single trial for multiple defendants accused of the same crimes. It’s possible that attorneys representing the defendants may request that their clients be tried separately.
StateCollege.com contacted attorneys for all three men and none was available immediately to comment on the Attorney General’s filing.
No trial date has been set. The trial is not expected to begin before next spring at the earliest.
