Two residential burglaries were reported Saturday in State College, borough police said.

In the first, reported at 11:57 a.m., a PlayStation3 video-game system and PS3 controller were taken from a residence at 327 S. Atherton St., according to a police report. It appears that someone forced his or her way into the home, police said.

A possible suspect has been identified in connection with that incident, according to the report.

In the second break-in, a Sanyo television set, a Wii video-game system and a broken TV set were taken from a residence at 122 N. Gill St., police said. That was reported at 11:17 p.m.; the value of the losses there is estimated at $800, according to a police report.

Investigations are ongoing. Residents told officers that they were out of town — for the Thanksgiving holiday — when the burglaries happened, police reports show.

An increase in residential thefts is typical during holiday periods in State College, police said.
