Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Boalsburg will have a new head of school starting this summer.

Following a national search that began in the fall of 2017, the high school announced Monday that Jennifer Mallet has been hired for the leadership position and will begin in the role in July. Mallett has been head of school at at Bishop Rosecrans High School in Zanesville, Ohio since 2010.

“We’re thrilled that Jennifer agreed to join our team,” Rob Thomas, president of the board of trustees for Saint Joseph’s, said in a release. “Her proven track record in Catholic education, along with experience in Catholic school enrollment, marketing and development are a perfect fit.”

Mallett holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Ashland University, and a master’s degree in education and allied professions from the University of Dayton. She has certificates in innovative leadership and enrollment management and marketing from Catholic School Management and has served in volunteer roles for the Diocese of Columbus and the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association.

After four years as Saint Joseph’s head of school, Chris Chirieleison left in 2017 to return to teaching at The Hill School in Pottstown.

Jean Kozak has served as interim head of school since Chirieleison’s departure. Kozak will return to her role as Saint Joseph’s guidance counselor.

“Jean did an outstanding job shepherding Saint Joseph’s through this transition period, and our entire faculty stepped up to make it a seamless experience for our students and families,” Thomas said. “We’re looking forward to another great year in 2018-19, marked by continued growth in enrollment and community support.”
