The new Sheetz on Colonnade Boulevard in Patton Township has an opening date.
A grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 31 at the new location adjacent to the Cracker Barrel restaurant at Patton Town Center, Sheetz public relations manager Nick Ruffner confirmed.
The project was approved in December by the Patton Township Board of Supervisors and includes a 5,953-square-foot building and five fuel pump islands with the capacity to serve 10 vehicles at a time.
Beer will be sold at the store, joining the Pugh Street and Valley Vista Drive locations as State College area Sheetz offering beer for sale. Ruffner said it’s possible beer won’t be available for purchase on opening day, but will be eventually.
Indoor and outdoor seating will be available, along with the usual Sheetz features such as the full MTO menu and 24/7 operation.
The store will be the seventh in the State College area and third in Patton Township, along with the Valley Vista Drive and North Atherton Street locations. The Valley Vista Drive Sheetz closed last fall and was rebuilt with a much larger, 7,100-square-foot building that opened in April.
The Altoona-based company has more than 600 stores in six states. Ruffner said earlier this year that in recent years Sheetz has annually opened about 30 new stores and rebuilt 10.
In addition to Sheetz and Cracker Barrel, the Patton Town Center development has two remaining pads available for retail or restaurants and one for a hotel, according to the property listing by Keystone Commercial Real Estate.
