Baseball fans, do-gooders, and summer-lovers alike can all have their way this holiday season as the State College Spikes host an Open House at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park to benefit local charities during the Holiday Season.
Those in attendance will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the ballpark on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission to the event is free with one new and unwrapped toy per person, to benefit the Salvation Army.
Fans will be able to take guided tours of the park and see areas of the ballpark not normally open to the public, such as the Home and Visiting Clubhouses, Indoor Batting Cages, Press Box, and Luxury Suites.
Other events and activities taking place for the Open House include free swings at the indoor batting cages, complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, and other refreshments, holiday pictures with Ike the Spike and other special guests, door prizes, and a 10% discount on all merchandise at the Off the Rack Outfitters.
Fans will be able to ask questions to all Spikes front office staff members as well as purchase season tickets, mini-plan packages, flex books, and other ticket packages for the 2007 season, which begins in June.
Those attending can park for free in the VIP Lot adjacent to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park and will be able to enter through the Front Office Gate on Porter Road.
