BOALSBURG — The halls of St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy are ringing with “Tell me more! Tell me more!” as the cast of the school musical puts the finishing touches on its vocal arrangements for its big day.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the Pink Ladies and the Greasers will take the stage at The State Theatre in State College for the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s performance of ‘Grease.’
“I have been pushing for Grease for the past three years,” said Anna Griggs, a senior at SJCA who plays Marty. “The theatre program at our school definitely took a giant leap this year.”
Grease is a well known and loved musical and it fits perfectly with the range of diverse talent at SJCA.
“We all wanted to take up the challenge of this renowned musical. It will truly be the best one yet,” said Griggs.
“The best scene is easily going to be the dance,” said Maggie Mangene, who plays Rizzo. “The great music and fun choreography will make the whole room want to get involved.”
Emma Mallison, who plays Frenchie, thinks otherwise. “My favorite is the ‘Hand Jive.’ It’s so iconic.”
“Mr. Hergenreder, our director and theatre teacher, has really pushed the program along,” said Griggs, who is also the SJCA Theatre Club president. “He pushes us to be the best actors, singers, and dancers and is always willing to help us in anyway.”
“I love singing and spending time with my friends, and the musical is a unique way to do both,” said Catalina Thornburg, who plays Jan. “Nothing matches the feeling of taking a bow and knowing that all of your hard work has paid off and you had a good time doing it.”
