With a wide smile class president Peter Brucker, took the podium in front of a Saturday crowd at the Bryce Jordan Center and addressed his fellow classmates one final time. Valedictorian Kristine Lai and Salutatorian Joseph Richard Feffer looked on just a few feet away, smiles of their own easy to spot.

‘We made it,’ Brucker said ‘The final wave of 90s kids aren’t kids anymore.’

And that was the tone for the entire ceremony as newly minted State College graduates took the time to look ahead while remembering the times they had together. Of course, in the spirit of 2017, a Snapchat filter activated at the conclusion of the ceremony to give everyone an opportunity to properly share the moment.

With more than 500 students headed to the next phase of their life, State College Area School District superintendent Robert O’Donnell took the time to offer up the advice he would have given his younger self so many years ago.

‘Forge your own path,’ O’Donnell said. ‘Make your team, and take time out for your parents.’
