Linus, Lucy, and Snoopy are just a few of the childhood favorites making an appearance in State College this weekend as part of the State College Community Theatre’s performance of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

The show will run from Friday through Sunday at the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center, 146 S. Allen St., with performances Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 7:30 p.m. and matineess on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

“All their favorite Peanuts characters are here — Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder, and of course Snoopy,” said Hilary Appelman, the vice president of State College Community Theatre, “performing vignettes from the classic comic strip and songs that you’ll leave the theater singing.”

Appelman said she is most excited to see the great talent onstage, and that she is grateful to perform at the Downtown Theatre. She added the show was chosen because it is a “high-energy musical that audiences of all ages will love,” and includes “fantastic musical numbers [that]really [showcase]the talents of our performers.”

Some of those performers include Penn State students like Jared Kehler, playing Charlie Brown, Hayden Yoder, playing Schroeder, and Jeff Butterbaugh playing Linus. Katelyn Ann Mullen will appear as Lucy and currently runs the Mentorship Program at Penn State Law.

The show is directed by Kerry Clancy.

Appelman said that all productions involve unforeseen circumstances, saying, “That’s show business! As the characters sing in the title song, ‘You Bravely Face Adversity’ and soldier on.”

“State College Community Theatre is truly a community theatre group in the fullest sense of the word, providing opportunities for anyone to get involved with theater — onstage or backstage,” Appelman said.
