Various items and supplies are currently on their way from Central Pennsylvania to the hurricane-damaged Tapia Public Library in Bayou La Batre, Alabama.

Antioch International director Perry Babb and Robert Stewart, a volunteer for the Central Pennsylvania Katrina Reconstruction Task Force, left from State College yesterday in a 26-foot truck to deliver the items.  The reconstruction of the library is complete, and the building is scheduled to open on Wednesday.

The books and furniture being sent to Alabama are from a temporary location used by the Schlow Centre Regional Library in the old State College Municipal Building. Originially, the library had planned to auction the old furniture until the library trustees agreed to donate it.
