State College Area High School senior Vincent Liu is one of just 20 students nationwide to be named to the 2016 U.S. Physics Team.
Liu was selected from among 4,300 who took an exam administered by the American Association of Physics Teachers in March. In June he’ll travel to College Park, Md., and join 19 other team members in a rigorous training camp. The training includes a crash course in the first two years of college-level physics, as well as learning about advanced research from top physicists.
At the conclusion of the camp, five members of the team will be selected to travel to Switzerland and Liechtenstein July 10-18 for the 47th International Physics Olympiad. At the international competition, students will face challenging exams and lab tests.
