Income-qualified Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, widows and widowers 50 or older and people with disabilities 18 or older are eligible for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. For the first time in more than a decade, the income-eligibility limit was raised in 2023 to $45,000 a year, expanding rebate opportunities to an additional 175,000 residents.

“The expansion of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program was one of the many prominent legislative victories from last year,” Takac said in a news release. “I’m proud to champion the expansion of this program and work to sign up as many seniors and those who are eligible in our community as possible.”

To file for a rebate during the sign-up event, applicants should bring proof of all income from 2023, including Social Security Income, documentation of benefits from pensions and annuities and all other miscellaneous forms of income received in 2023. Homeowners must bring proof of all 2023 property tax bills. Renters must submit the PA Rent Certificate, along with total 2023 rent paid.

Rebates can range from $380 to $1,000, according to the state revenue department.
