A long-awaited trampoline park is getting closer to opening in the State College area.

Get Air is ‘optimistic’ its location in College Township will open this summer, the company said in a news release on Tuesday.

A Get Air spokesman confirmed on Tuesday night that the trampoline park will be located at 2252 E. College Ave., next to the current location of Giant supermarket in the Nittany Commons shopping center. Get Air initially planned in 2016 to open in the Nittany Mall, but in July 2017 leased the Nittany Commons location.

The news release on Tuesday said the company has submitted plans and is waiting on a building permit. Once a permit is issued, construction on the facility will take about three months.

The 23,000-square-foot trampoline park will combine amusement and exercise with ‘wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pits, dodge ball courts, and all kinds of fun features.’

Get Air also features a ninja warrior course with ‘spider walls, a slackline, military crawls, monkey rings, a rock-climbing wall and a cliffhanger.’

The company is hiring 40 to 50 people for the location.

‘[O]ur business will go beyond that by supporting other local businesses, schools, athletic programs and more,’ the release said. ‘Indoor trampoline parks are a booming business in Pennsylvania.’

It will be the first trampoline park in the State College area, though not the first attempt to build one locally. In 2015, Sky Zone listed State College as location that would be ‘coming soon,’ but plans never developed and the State College page was removed from its website.

Get Air has locations in 34 states, as well as Canada, Mexico, Finland and Japan. The State College location will be its fifth in Pennsylvania.
