For the second time in two weeks, vandals have targetted a Centre County school.  This time, police caught the teenagers who were allegedly responsible for the vandalism.

Last week, while many students were on break, vandals spray-painted obscenities and other letters on the exterior walls of the Philipsburg Junior High building.

Sometime after 8 p.m. on Thursday night, vandals targeted both the junior and senior high school buildings.  A school staff member saw three teens acting suspiciously on school property and called police.

State police arrived at the school and say two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old used gray and red spray paint to write on the buildings.

Investigators say the graffiti looks very similar to what was found last week at the junior high.  Police believe the incidents are connected and are trying to determine whether the same teens are responsible for both incidents.

School officials verified that last week’s vandalism cost more than $300 to clean up.  No cost estimate is available yet following Thursday night’s graffiti incident.

The teenagers are facing misdemeanor charges.  They could be charged with institutional vandalism and criminal trespass, and will likely have to make restitution.
