It’s a weekend filled with fall fun in Happy Valley!

Fall festivals are getting under way, Way Fruit Farm begins their weekend fall activities and fall sports are in full swing.

Plus, Kanye West is at the Jordan Center, the Blue Band Jam returns, Olympic medalists come back home to Happy Valley and much more.

We’ve compiled the highlights from the upcoming weekend’s community events in the State College area for you to enjoy. FRIDAY

Farmer’s Wife Fall Fest
From 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, enjoy family activities, crafts, homemade baked goods, pumpkins, gourds, antique tractors, petting zoo, mini corn maze and rides to the pumpkin patch. The festival is at 413 Airport Road in Centre Hall and continues next weekend. 

PA CareerLink Career Fair
PA CareerLink Centre County will hold a Mall-Wide Career Fair at the Nittany Mall from 3-6 p.m. More than 40 local and mall employers and schools will attend. The fair is open to adult job seekers and job seekers age 16 and older. Register at the PA CareerLink table to win prizes.

Penn State Sports
Three Penn State women’s teams are in action at home. The No. 5 Nittany Lion field hockey team takes on Michigan State at 5 p.m. at the Field Hockey Complex; No. 14 women’s soccer hosts Illinois at 6 p.m. at Jeffrey Field; and 16th-ranked women’s volleyball welcomes Michigan State to Rec Hall at 7 p.m., with alumnae and USA volleyball Olympians Christa Dietzen and Alisha Glass both available for an autograph and photo session from 5:30 – 6:30.

Kanye West
The musical artist who has twice been named one of Time magazine’s most-influential people brings his Saint Pablo Tour to the Bryce Jordan Center for one of only two Pennsylvania stops in support of his recent ‘The Life of Pablo’ album. The show is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and some tickets are still available.


SATURDAY

Fall Fun at Way Fruit Farm
It’s the first weekend of fall fun at Way Fruit Farm, 2355 Halfmoon Valley Road. in Port Matilda. The farm is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and visitors can enjoy free wagon rides to the pumpkin patch to pick-your-own pumpkin; Cider pressing demonstrations on the half hour from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Free samples of fresh-pressed apple cider; Breakfast & lunch offered in The Way Cafe, Bakery & Deli; and fresh-baked apple cider & pumpkin donuts, fresh-pressed cider, fall apples and more to purchase.

Dutch Fall Festival
Delicious traditional foods, live old-time demonstrations, live entertainment and more than 50 local craft and food vendors will be available in the historic village of Aaronsburg. The festival is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Monster Hunt Race
The 5th Annual Black Moshannon Monster Hunt Race is set for 1 p.m. at Black Moshannon State Park. A 5k run or hike adventure race and scavenger hunt, all proceeds will benefit Leslie Mersinger, a Millheim resident and mother of three boys who was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Blue Band Jam
The Penn State Blue Band once again hosts a musical event featuring tunes from six Pennsylvania high schools. The Blue Band Jam begins at 1:15 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The jam takes place prior to the 3:30 p.m. football game against Minnesota. Some tickets to the game at Beaver Stadium are still available.

Indian Music
Penn State’s Society for Indian Music (SIMA) presents Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, one of India’s top percussionists in a virtuoso performance, accompanied by Pandit Ramesh Misra, a master of the sarangi, a north Indian bowed string instrument. The performance begins at 7 p.m. at UUFC, 780 Waupelani Drive Ext. Tickets are available at the door and are $4.99 or $4 for students.

Women’s volleyball
After the Penn State football game, head over to Rec Hall as Penn State faces Michigan in an 8 p.m. first serve. Fans who present their Penn State football ticket get in for $4.

SUNDAY

Native Knowledge at Millbrook Marsh
Learn about native plants and the heritage of native people peak 
as a Millbrook Marsh naturalist guides a fun, informative walk about native plants and their cultural uses. Learn how native people acquired food, medicine, and other essentials. The walk starts at 10:30 a.m.

Olympic Medalists at the All-Sports Museum
Penn State greats and 2016 Olympic volleyball bronze medalists Christa (Harmotto) Dietzen and Alisha Glass will share their experiences with Team USA at the Penn State All-Sports Museum. The presentation starts at 11 a.m. in the Clemens Family Theater and light refreshments will be served.

Fire Company Open Houses
Boalsburg Fire Company’s open house will feature apparatus displays, fire prevention information, Smokey Bear, a kids coloring contest, fire truck rides and more from noon to 3 p.m. at the fire company, 113 E. Pine St. Refreshments will be available. Interested in becoming a Firefighter? Find out how and pick up an application.

Logan Fire Company No. 1 of Bellefonte will host an open house from noon–4 p.m. at their station at 120 East Howard Street. Meet firefighters, tour the station, learn about the equipment used to fight fires, tour the fire prevention trailer and learn how you can help protect your home and family from fire. Applications will be available for those who are interested in joining the Logan Fire Company and for those looking to serve in support roles.

First Sunday at the Bellefonte Art Museum
Stop by the Bellefonte Art Museum for the exhibit opening reception, including ‘One Farm, Multiple Perspectives’ opening in the Windows on the World Gallery. Meet the artists from noon-4:30 p.m. and enjoy the opening reception and children’s art activity from 1-4 p.m.

Hockey Valley
The Penn State men’s hockey team returns to Pegula Ice Arena for its first exhibition game of 2016, facing off against Queen’s (Ontario) at 1 p.m. And Penn State field hockey is back in action at the Field Hockey Complex, squaring off with No. 11 Princeton at 2 p.m.
