The Next Stage will begin its new series, Some Assembly Required, with part one, titled “What Does the Director Do?,” to be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at The State Theatre.

The Next Stage is a nonprofit organization in State College which performs main stage productions and offers acting classes as well. Their new series is meant to show the audience how a theater production gets put together.

“The ‘Some Assembly Required’ series will show you what that team does,” said Karen Gregg, State College Theatre Executive Director. “The team includes the producer, the artistic director, the director of the play, the actors, the stage manager, and many others.”

According to the event’s Facebook page, “actors and script are raw material that the director makes into a play.” Mary Skees, who is in charge of production, collaborates “with the artistic director, decides which direction the play needs to go and then figures out how to help the actors get there.”

The general admission ticket section suggest a “pay what you please” range from $5 to $20 and can be purchased here.
