This will be a short one this month. Between school, training and running a marathon, and helping a father who is struggling with Parkinson’s disease, there just hasn’t been enough hours in the day. You should see my lawn…yikes!
Here are the upcoming races coming up this month as the weather becomes more conducive to running.
May Races
May 11, 9 a.m. – The 16th Annual Beidleheimer Sidewinder 10k or 20k.
The third Tussey Teaser will start and end at Whipple Dam State Park featuring Leg #4 of the Tussey Mountainback. The races are completely free and features prizes.
May 25, 9 a.m. – The 39th Annual Black Moshannon 5k and 10k Races
Take a nice drive out to Black Moshannon on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend for a well organized 5k or 10k race. The 5k run starts at 9 a.m., the 5k walk starts at 9:15 a.m., and the 10k race begins at 10 a.m. So if you really want to challenge yourself, sign up to ‘Do the Double’ and run both the 5k and 10k!
May 27, 8:30 a.m. – The Boalsburg Memorial Day Run
Starting and ending at Blue Spring Park, this Memorial Day tradition features a unique distance of 3.8 miles. You’ll be in for a nice treat when you find out how hilly Boalsburg can be. Luckily the last mile and a half is downhill for a fast finish.
May 31-June 1 – The Central PA Youth Track Meet
The Nittany Track and Field Club will be holding its youth track and field meet at the State High South Track. Any youngster (under 18 years old) can register to compete in a variety of distances and events.
