One lane will reopen and the other will close beginning July 1 on a section of U.S. Route 322 near State College as work continues on a bridge rehabilitation project.

PennDOT plans to reopen the right lane and close the left lane on Route 322 westbound near the Oak Hall interchange in College Township, the department wrote in a news release.

The traffic pattern on Route 322 eastbound will remain unchanged. The passing lane will remain closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to wrap up in late August.

The project to rehabilitate two bridges spanning Warner Boulevard and Spring Creek began in April. It aims to improve the ride quality of the bridges, extend their service life and improve their overall condition ratings from fair to good.

Work includes pouring new concrete decking, joint sealing, repairing the bridge railing and paving the approaches.

George S. Hann & Son, of Littleton, is the contractor on this $2 million project. The contract also included work on the University Drive bridge spanning Route 26 in State College, which was completed during the 2024 construction season.
