Tree trimming and removal along two roads in eastern Centre County is expected to cause brief travel delays over the next several months, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The work is scheduled to begin Tuesday and will impact traffic on:

• Route 477 (Livonia Mountain Road) between the Centre-Clinton County line and Route 192 (Brush Valley Road)

• Route 880 (Rebersburg Mountain Road) between the intersection of Harter Mills Trail at the Centre-Clinton County line and Route 192 (Main Street) in Rebersburg.

Project contractor Sidelines Tree Service of Oakdale will perform work during daylight hours, and flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control.

The project is expected to “take several months to complete,” according to PennDOT.

“Tree trimming and removal provide ‘daylighting’ to the roadway, allowing sunlight to speed snow and ice melt during winter,” PennDOT wrote in a news release. “It also enhances sight distance at some locations and lessens the potential for old and dead trees to fall onto the road.

The department urged drivers “to exercise caution in all work zones, watch for flaggers and slow-moving or stopped traffic, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.”
