A large truck today struck and knocked down several utility wires above state Route 26 in Pine Grove Mills, Ferguson Township police said this afternoon.

It happened on the stretch of roadway that runs over Pine Grove Mountain, stalling traffic for about 90 minutes, according to a police report.

Police said the truck had been carrying an oversized load — a cooling system — up the mountain when it hit the wires.

Those dislodged wires ended up blocking both lanes of Route 26, police said. They said crews from Verizon, Comcast and Allegheny Power responded to the scene. Traffic returned to normal before 5 p.m.

The driver of an escort vehicle had mistakenly misled the truck into the area, according to the police report. They said no charges will be filed.

No injuries were reported.
