Prom time is coming up, and late spring and summer is prime time for weddings. Those who need a dress or tux for the prom, a wedding or another special occasion, are invited to attend the Prom, Bridal, Designer and Vintage Trunk Sale to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Our Lady of Victory Church Activity Center, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College.

The event is sponsored by the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.

For this sale, the SVDP Thrift Store is joined by the Love It Upcycle Boutique, a store featuring secondhand clothing. The boutique’s original store is located in Huntingdon, and a second location recently was opened at 938 W. College Ave. in State College.

The trunk sale will offer hundreds of long and short prom dresses, more than 30 wedding gowns, several dozen mother-of-the-bride/groom outfits, a number of designer suits and pieces and vintage clothing. Additionally, there will be dozens of tuxedos and dress suits, along with corresponding accessories such as cummerbunds, ties and shoes.

The event will be well stocked with fashion-forward shoes, handbags and both fine and costume jewelry, as well as both real fur and faux fur coats and stoles.

There will be a large dressing room at the sale, with plenty of space to try on large wedding and prom dresses, and lots of mirrors to view outfits from every angle. The sale also will feature a festive atmosphere, with music provided by Ken Hart DJ Music Service.

The St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store is fortunate to receive donations of items from the community. All of the thrift store’s proceeds from the trunk sale will go to help those in need in the community.

Through person-to-person involvement, members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul provide discreet assistance, both spiritually and materially, to local families and individuals regardless of their religion, race or ethnicity. Financial assistance is provided for a wide range of needs including medical care, housing, utilities, food, clothing, transportation and more. A large portion of the funds for this help comes from the society’s thrift store, located in the Westerly Parkway Plaza.
