Two people were killed in a shooting on the campus of Penn State Beaver in Monaca, Beaver County, in what authorities are investigating as murder-suicide, according to KDKA Pittsburgh.
Pennsylvania State Police told KDKA that a campus employee was shot and killed near her car by her estranged husband, who then shot and killed himself. No students were involved in the shooting, said Penn State Beaver Chancellor Jennifer Cushman in a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon, and no other injuries were reported.
Penn State Beaver is about 160 mils west of the University Park campus and 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
Penn State President Eric Barron released a statement saying that the Penn State community is “profoundly saddened by the tragedy” and the security of students, faculty and staff is the top priority across all campuses.
