UPDATE @ 5:54 a.m. Friday: The State College Area School District is operating under a two-hour delay Friday — the third delayed start this week for the district. Penn State University Park is running on time.

UPDATE @ 11:15 p.m. Thursday: Thanks to the snowy weather, Penn State has declared a Midnight Clear for Thursday night at University Park. That means parking will be restricted in surface lots on campus until 7 a.m. Friday. Details are available via Penn State Live.

Meanwhile, municipal governments in the State College area have declared snow emergencies, which limit street parking until the snow stops and roads have been entirely cleared. The latest AccuWeather.com forecasts suggest that the region will have accumulated three to six inches of new snow by daybreak Friday.

By 11:15 p.m. Thursday, one and a half inches of fresh snow had fallen in State College, according to WTAJ.

UPDATE @ 6:11 p.m. Thursday: The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the State College area, according to AccuWeather.com. It will remain in effect until 9 a.m. Friday.

Earlier report, posted @ 4:24 p.m. Wednesday:

Another three to six inches of snow should materialize Thursday and into early Friday in the State College area, according to AccuWeather.com forecasts.

The rest of Wednesday will see only marginal precipitation, but snow is expected to begin falling again Thursday afternoon, forecasts show.

AccuWeather.com suggests that one to two inches may fall during the day Thursday, with another one to two following on Thursday night. Snow showers early Friday may deliver another couple inches, forecasts show.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 20s both Thursday and Friday. They may slip into the deep freeze by Saturday, when the anticipated high will be just 13 degrees.

Wintry conditions have already prompted two weather advisories in State College this week — and two delayed starts for the public schools. StateCollege.com will post any further weather advisories and school-schedule updates as they become available.
