The former Phi Delta Theta house should be fully demolished by day’s end Monday, Penn State spokesman Geoff Rushton said Friday.
An earlier report indicated incorrectly that the demolition was to be complete by today.
A century old, the University Park landmark was purchased by the university in May for $1.75 million. Demolition work began Thursday morning and remains on schedule, Rushton said.
University plans calls for the acreage, at the southwest corner of North Burrowes and Pollock roads, to be turned into green space.
Rushton said masonry from the house will be recycled. The university would like to have all building materials removed from the former fraternity site by Aug. 20.
Next, this fall, Penn State will install sidewalks, lights and benches in the space, Rushton said.
