UPDATED @ 6:06 p.m. May 27: State police at Rockview have released a detailed account of the car chase that ended Friday morning in College Township.

According to a police report, the chase began after a 9 a.m. traffic stop on U.S. Route 322 in Worth Township — near Shady Dell Road.

There, according to police, a trooper pulled over Timothy Joseph Byers, 38, for speeding. (Byers’ town of residence was not released.)

The trooper soon realized Byers’ vehicle — a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan — had been stolen, and asked Byers to get out of the minivan, according to the report.

But Byers refused and fled the scene, the report goes on.

Police said troopers pursued him on Route 322 and Interstate 99, in areas of Grays Woods, again on I-99 and finally on Park Avenue near Orchard Road.

Near Orchard Road, according to the police report, authorities used a ‘pit maneuver’ after the Grand Caravan hit the back of a state police vehicle.

Byers was taken into custody, police said. They did not immediately release information about his arraignment.
