It’s dark and cold outside, representative of the early morning hour, yet time stands still in the BJC.
Whether in the stands or on the floor, THONers are moving and grooving like its 11 p.m. on a Friday night.
In reality, it’s 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, but Kern is not fazed by the growing hour.
“I’ve loved every single second of it! I want to keep going for days.”
Helping her keep in good spirits is her family — Neil, Arlene and Natalie — who came in the early morning hours to motivate her.
“We are so proud of her. I’ll be honest, I was worried about it at first,” said Kern’s mom, “But she’s been energized about it for a year now.”
Kern felt a brief period of exhaustion ‘yesterday’ but was soon to recover when her sister came to the floor to meet her.
All in all, Kern is doing great, especially with her family by her side as she received her dancer mail from friends and THON families.
“I don’t want it to end,” said Kern.
