The Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the election of its 14-member, volunteer board of directors for 2018-19.
Edward Tubbs, chief operating officer for Hospitality Asset Management Company, was elected president of the board. Previously serving as vice president, Tubbs succeeds Fasta & Ravioli Company’s Bob Ricketts, who moves into the role of past president.
For other officer positions, Scott Walker, vice president of the State College Spikes, will serve as vice president. Joe Thomas, general manager of Mountain View Country Club, will be secretary and treasurer.
Community leaders are elected to staggered terms on the board and are charged with advising CPCVB’s mission of promoting Centre County as a tourism destination. CPCVB is a nonprofit, membership-based organization dedicated to developing and promoting ‘travel related activities and coordinate visitor services designed to enhance the economic activity and quality of life within the county.’
In addition to Tubbs, Thomas, Walker and Ricketts, the 2018-19 board includes:
Stefan Cherinka, Toftrees Golf Resort
Jennifer Corman, Fullington Bus Company
Mark Higgins, Centre County Commissioner
Gary Hoover, Bellefonte Intervalley Area Chamber of Commerce
Gail Jones, Penn State Federal Credit Union
Elizabeth Laurenzana, Keller Williams Advantage Realty
Ken Martin, American Philatelic Society
Tom Neeley, Nittany Lion Inn
Ja Nae Wian, Seven Mountains Media
Charima Young, Director Local Government and Community Relations, Penn State
CPCVB is continuing its search for a new full-time executive director. After longtime director Betsey Howell’s retirement in 2017, Jeffrey Vasser was hired earlier in March but left in April for a different position. Lori Miller is serving as interim executive director.
