A Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service will remain effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday. We could see heavy snow followed by sleet and freezing rain.
Heavy snow is expected to fall periodically this afternoon. Four to eight inches of snow could blanket the State College area before it changes over to a mix of sleet and freezing rain. Up to a quarter of an inch of ice is possible. The changeover will happen late this afternoon or early this evening.
Roads will be slippery so use caution when driving. Winds gusting up to 40 mph could reduce visibility. Power outages may occur due to freezing rain accumulating on trees and power lines.
