Emergency responders rescued an 86-year-old woman who was entrapped after a tree fell on her home early Monday morning in Ferguson Township.
According to Alpha Fire Company, the woman was pinned beneath the roof after an approximately 100 foot tree fell on the Breezewood Drive house around 5 a.m.. Centre County has been under a high-wind warning since Sunday afternoon, with gusts of more than 60 miles per hour recorded around the region.
Alpha crews found the woman was trapped by a 10-foot by 20 foot section of roof, and the roof and a portion of wall that collapsed were stabilized using jacks, struts and shoring to create a pathway for extrication.
After about 50 minutes, the woman was extricated and transported by ambulance to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where she is in stable condition, according to Alpha.
In addition to Alpha Fire Company and Fire Police, Ferguson Township and Patton Township police and Centre LifeLink EMS responded.
