The State College Police Department issued a press release yesterday regarding n incident that occurred at the Nittany Mall.
According to the release, a 19-year-old woman told police that a man assaulted and attempted to abduct her in the parking lot of the mall, near the CVS drugstore.
The woman told police she was walking to her car through the parking lot near the mall’s main entrance at 5:35 p.m. when a man grabbed her and allegedly attempted to push her into a van with its side door open. The van was a tan late-model minivan and was parked in the mall’s lot.
According to the woman’s account, she struggled and was able to escape, police said. The man is described as a 6-foot tall man with a medium build, possibly middle-eastern, in his late 50s or 60s with a pronounced stomach, gray beard, and glasses.
According to the press release, the victim also told police the man spoke in a foreign language.
