Penn State women’s basketball’s upcoming home game against Towson scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests within Towson’s program, the team announced Friday afternoon.
“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the broader community are of the utmost importance,” a Penn State Athletics release said.
Currently, the program is searching for a non-conference home opponent as a replacement for Wednesday’s game, with details regarding the potential game still to be determined. Those who bought tickets for the Towson game will notified once the details of the potential new game are determined.
It’s the first COVID-19-related cancelation for the Lady Lions this season. Penn State men’s basketball’s two upcoming matchups against VCU and Quinnipiac have been canceled because positive tests within the Nittany Lion program. Neither of those games will be rescheduled
The Lady Lions are set to play at Duquesne at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Penn State enters the matchup with a 6-5 record this season.
