The transfer portal departures are piling up for Penn State men’s basketball.
Forward Mason Blackwood on Sunday evening became the third Nittany Lion to announce plans to enter the transfer portal, resharing an Instagram post with the news on his account. He joins guards Freddie Dilione V and Melih Tunca as players departing the program through the portal this offseason.
As a true freshman Blackwood saw limited minutes, averaging 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. The Rochester, New York, native was ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and a three-star on the composite rankings.
Blackwood was listed at 6-foot-7, 230 pounds last season and was praised by head coach Mike Rhoades and his teammates for his work ethic on the court during practice. He’ll take that energy elsewhere when the portal window opens on Tuesday.
