Penn State forward/guard Seth Lundy has returned to practice after sustaining a right ankle injury during the Nittany Lions’ romp of Canisius on Dec. 18. The senior did not dress or play in Penn State’s following contest against Quinnipiac a week later but has returned to team activities, according to coach Micah Shrewsberry.

“Seth was back in practice doing things, [but] he’s a little bit hobbled,” Shrewsberry said. Lundy was injured in the first half of the game against Canisius and needed help to leave the floor. “He may not be 100% but he’s working back in there. Yesterday was the first day he practiced. He didn’t practice in between those other games. So we’re just going to try and get him as ready as he can be, and as at full strength as possible leading into whether that’s, Thursday or Sunday or whenever it may be.”

Penn State is set to face lowly Delaware State on Thursday evening before hosting Iowa in New Year’s Day just a few days later. Lundy seems unlikely to see much or any time on Thursday evening – and likely would not be needed in the first place for the Nittany Lions to upended a struggling 1-11 team on the year. A potentially healthier Lundy making his debut again against a much more formidable Iowa foe to open the main slate of Big Ten play seems a much more likely possibility.

“He’s doing okay,” Shrewsberry added. “He did a lot of work with our training staff to get back healthy and we’re gonna get him some reps and getting some work this week during practice.”

Lundy is currently third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding. Lundy trails guard Jalen Pickett in both categories but is perhaps Penn State’s best on-ball defender and among the better defensive players in Big Ten play.
